Welcome to the 2nd Annual OktoberWest Festival

Welcome and Celebrate the season at a Steamboat-style Oktoberfest to be held from Sept. 17th to 18th, 2010 at at Steamboat Ski Resort, alongside the Torian Plum, Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Featuring Kyle Hollingsworth, food, beer, games and activities for kids and adults, mechanical bull-riding competition and much more.

This event is packed with entertainment for everyone in the family in a beautiful location, the base of the Steamboat Ski Area. Admission to the event is FREE. Embrace the true OktoberWest spirit with events such as keg barrel roping, lamb cook-off, Cow PIE Challenge and Bucking Bull Battle while rockin’ out during the free concert with a refreshing beer in your hand and you have the perfect fall day in Steamboat Springs. While you are enjoying OktoberWest festivities, cheer on the Run Rabbit Run Ultra Marathon racers at the finish line after completing a challenging 50-mile run along the Continental Divide trail.

Emerald Mountain Trail Run Event @ Steamboat Springs

Register early for the Emerald Mountain Trail Run at Steamboat Springs this season. The race is a Scenic trail run or walk/hike on beautiful Emerald Mountain to be held on Sat, September 11th, 2010. The course for the Emerald Mountain trail run will be a tour of Emerald mountain starting at the base of Howelson Hill. The course will meander north west on dirt road and then through aspen lined singletrack up to the top of Emerald Mountain. The course will then follow singletrack down and cross country to the base of Howelson Hill.

The race starts and finishes at the Howelson Hill complex in the grassy park next to the tennis courts. Start time: 8:00 am for the Walk/Hike and 9:00 am for the Run and 9:20 for the 1/2 mile kids fun run. For more information on this event please visit http://www.runningseries.com/races/emerald.php

2010 Steamboat Springs Running Series

Register early and participate in the 24th Annual 10,000 Meters at 10,000 Feet - A Challenging trail run with some rough terrain and breathtaking scenery…. this race is a Steamboat classic! The 10K race begins at 10,000 ft at the summit of Rabbit Ears Pass first heading uphill on USFS dirt roads and 2 track, the race then heads downhill on single-track, ending on a cross country single-track. This race although listed as a 10K is closer to 7 miles in length.

This race is run on Sunday, September 5th, 2010 at 10:00 AM, and if you plan to walk the course the walk will begin at 10:05 AM. 5K and 10K offered. The race will be held at The summit of the old Rabbit Ears Pass Road. You have to take the Dumont Lake Road to the Rabbit Ears Monument and parking area.

Tread of Pioneers Museum’s Olympic Heritage Tour

Welcome to the Free Olympic Heritage Tour of “The Tread of Pioneers Museum” featuring a 1908 Queen Anne-style Victorian home with turn-of-the-century furnishings. On display are various ranching, mining and pioneer life artifacts from Routt County, a comprehensive History of Skiing exhibit, as well as a Native American arts display. Special museum features are a computer interactive exhibit, Kids Scavenger Hunt, oral history library, local history research library, unique museum gift shop, and a historic photograph collection.

Starting at Olympian Hall at the Howelsen Hill Ski area (845 Howelsen Parkway), this tour explores its Olympic Heritage; the multiple talents of Carl Howelsen; and the history of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, Winter Carnival, Howelsen Hill, and ski jumping. This tour is free and sponsored by Historic Routt County. All participants will receive a $1 off coupon to the Tread of Pioneers Museum and a free ticket to the Howelsen Hill chairlift.

Celebrate this season at a Steamboat-style Oktoberfest

Welcome and celebrate this season at the 2nd Annual Steamboat OktoberWest to be held from September 17-19, 2010 at Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Enjoy music, food, beer, games and activities for kids and adults, chef competition and much much more.

The event will kickoff Friday night with a cruiser bike parade in Steamboat’s historic downtown leading patrons to their favorite restaurants for the Suds & Grub event with beer tastings and food specials. Saturday is packed with entertainment for everyone in the family in a beautiful location, the base of the Steamboat Ski Area. Admission to the event is FREE. In true OktoberWest spirit, try your hand at roping a keg barrel, walk amongst the many artisan vendors and find that can’t-live-without item, sample some of the tasty food and put a refreshing beer in your hand and you have the perfect fall day in Steamboat Springs. While you are enjoying OktoberWest festivities, cheer on the Run Rabbit Run Ultra Marathon racers at the finish line after completing a challenging 50-mile run along the Continental Divide trail. Finish the day with some rockin’ entertainment.

107th Annual Cowboys’ Roundup Days and July 4th Celebration

Join us for a breathtaking fireworks display at historic Howelsen Hill which holds the distinction of being one of the country’s oldest ski areas in continuous use. Event starts from Friday, July 2nd - Sunday, July 4th, 2010. This nighttime extravaganza will begin at dark, roughly 9:30 P.M. Also celebrate July 4rth at the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo and enjoy prime seating for the fireworks that follow.

For over 100 years Steamboat has celebrated Independence Day in true western fashion, with events for the entire family. Kick back in your boots at several community events including a community all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, the annual Yampa Valley Bank parade down Lincoln Avenue, Pioneer Days Block Party featuring a free community concert and Root Beer Floats for the kids, evening rodeos, and the Ranch Rodeo where local ranches compete against one another in the Old West tradition.

32nd Annual Mountain Madness Half Marathon and 10K Race Event

Welcome to the 32nd Annual Mountain Madness Half Marathon and 10K Race Event considered to be one of the oldest races in Steamboat Springs. This is a great race held over 4th of July weekend. Get a great view at the beautiful county roads with sweeping views of the Ski Area and the Yampa River.

The race starts on Saturday, July 3, 2010 on River Road at the Howelson Ice Rink parking lot.

Course Description(s):
1. The ½ marathon and 10k races start at Howelsen Hill Park in the parking lot of the Ice Rink
2. The 10k is an out and back on a relatively flat (for Steamboat!) course with 1 short steep hill.

The ½ marathon follows the same course for the 10k to start, heading south on River Road paralleling the Yampa River for a time before turning right and heading uphill through Dakota Ridge. The course then circles back along a beautiful country road with fabulous views of the Steamboat Ski area and the Yampa Valley.

18th Annual Steamboat Sprint Event

Welcome to the 2010 Steamboat Springs Running Series :: 18th Annual Steamboat Sprint to be held on July 4th, 2010 at Lyon’s Drug Store, the corner of Lincoln Ave. and 9th Street, Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The race is followed by the Steamboat Springs 4th of July parade.

Runner’s can register at the race start from 9am until 9:15am (at Lyon’s Drug Store). Over $400 worth of prizes will be awarded.

Welcome to the 32nd Annual Mountain Madness Half Marathon where it joins the Hayden Cog as one of the two oldest races in Steamboat Springs and the Running Series. This is a great race held over 4th of July weekend. This race takes runners along beautiful county roads with sweeping views of the Ski Area and the Yampa River.

Course Description(s):
* The ½ marathon and 10k races start at Howelsen Hill Park in the parking lot of the Ice Rink
