Welcome to the art exhibition by Quang Ho in Steamboat Springs, Colorado from Dec 2, 2011 – April 14, 2012 at Steamboat Art Museum.
Quang Ho – “The real essence of painting is the dialogue between shapes, tones, colors, textures, edges, and line. Everything else follows-including light, form, concepts personal beliefs and inspirations.” Working mostly in oils and occasionally watercolor and pastels, Ho’s subject matter ranges from still-life, landscapes, interiors, and dancers, to figuratives.
Ho’s illustration works have been featured in the Illustrators Annual and exhibited at the Museum of American Illustrations; and the Communication Arts Illustrations Annual during those years.

Steamboat springs is a small city with a total area of 10.1 square miles in land. The Yampa Valley and surrounding area contain several geothermal hot springs, from which the city derives its name. Welcome to 99th Annual Winter Carnival of Steamboat Springs, one of the oldest carnivals in Colorado going to be held from February 8 to February 12, 2012. This carnival is a way to celebrate winter, an opportunity for everyone to experience a piece of history and tradition of this beautiful ski town. Steamboat Springs’ Winter Carnival began in 1914. Sponsored by the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club to assist athletic programs, the Winter Carnival is produced by volunteer efforts. The volunteers facilitate and coordinate the Winter Carnival solely as a service to the community. This annual celebration includes variety of events such as: Ski Jumping competitions, a Snowboarding Jam Session, the Soda Pop Slalom, a Tubing Party, the Diamond Hitch Parade which includes the High School band on skis, the Street Events on Lincoln Avenue, and the Night Extravaganza at Howelsen Hill with a brilliant fireworks display and the famous Lighted Man.
The Street Events are one of the most popular events of the week long Winter Carnival and entertaining, featuring children on skis or snowboards, being pulled by horses down a snow-covered Lincoln Avenue. They are held at Lincoln Avenue. The Horse Events include: Street Slalom, Ski Joring, Ring & Spear, Ring & Box, and the famous Donkey Jump. Horse Events are for children ages 6 to 14 years old, while Non-Horse Events are for children ranging in age from infant to 14 years old.
The Lighted Man tradition began in 1936. The outfit of Lighted man weighs more than 100 pounds. His suit had 200 lights and was powered by wet cells and yards of wiring. It takes about five o six people to put the entire outfit on The Lighted Man.
The Labor day Weekend in Steamboat Springs is full of activities for all ages, will be on September 2-5, 2011.
Wild West Air Fest – Up to 25 vintage planes and Warbirds and also other unique air crafts from the World War II era will be displayed. Vintage aircraft and helicopter rides will be available. There will be demonstrations by the brand new Cirrus Design piston aircraft and Radio Controlled Airplane shows. Location – Steamboat Airport.
Steamboat StockDog Challenge- It is a Working dogs competition where working dogs herd sheep lead only by whistle and hand commands from their trainers. Location – Stanko Ranch in Steamboat Springs.

The Steamboat Springs Stage Race is taking place September 2-5, 2011. The course will include a Friday time-trial, Saturday Circuit race, Sunday Road Race and Monday Criterium. Participants are required to finish each stage of race. If a rider does not finish a stage and receive a finishing time/place they are not allowed to start the following day and will be listed as DNF in results. All stages are located a short distance from downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado.The Race is coinciding with the Labor Day events.
The Race will be run under stage race format.
Prologue: Aspire Individual Time Trial, Friday Sept 2, 2011
A 6.5 mile straight shot on River Road with minimal elevation gain and some technical turns. All ACA legal TT equipment is allowed. First rider starts at 1:30pm.
Stage 1: Wildhorse Circuit Race, Saturday Sept 3, 2011
Wildhorse Meadows is hosting the circuit race. A fast and fun circuit race in the heart of the ski area can be expected this year.
Stage 2: Moots Road Race, Sunday Sept 4, 2011
Racers will battle on the rolling hills just outside of Steamboat Springs. Full course maps and elevation to be posted.
Stage 3: Ski & Bike Kare Downtown Criterium, Monday Sept 5, 2011
The race will be held at Downtown Crit Course. The course remains unchanged for a third year and has become a favorite with racers and spectators alike. The course is safe, fast and wide open racing with one slight climb.
Strings Music Festival is a a nationally recognized, summer music festival in Steamboat Springs. It presents more than 70 performances of chamber music, country music, bluegrass, jazz, rock, world rhythms, and many other genres every summer since 1988. Artists include Grammy winners and nominees, major competition winners and major players from the most renowned orchestras. The strings music festival already started this year with Classical Music Series, Different Tempo Series, Music on the Green, Youth and Family Concert Series.

Steamboat Springs Marathon, going to be held on 5th June 2011, is a race in country side with beautiful scenic views, green pastures, Elk river flowing along the path, rocky mountains all around. Because of these reasons this race is known as “one of the top 10 destination Marathons in North America”. This is a USATF (USA Track and Field) certified race.

Welcome to the 25th Annual Spirit Challenge at Steamboat Springs, Colorado to be held on 14th May 2011.. This is the first race of the year, a part of Steamboat Springs Running Series, a fund raiser event for Legacy Education Foundation. The event takes place in the Yampa Valley. For all ages. There are two races of 5k and 10k. While the 5k race is a beautiful, scenic, rolling on and off road. The 10k race is uphill and back downhill through Strawberry Park.
Registration is at Ski Haus, Steamboat Springs. All ages are welcome.

Enjoy 31st Annual Cardboard Classic on April 9, 2011, at 11 am, Gondola Square, a unique event of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It’s all homemade crafts. It’s a sled made out of cardboard, glue, duct tape, masking tape, string and water-based paint. Contestants will race down and hit crash pads at the end of the course finish. The crafts are judged on the basis of most creative, best reproduction, best individual craft etc.
Time – Race for Ages 17 and under will start at 11am – 1pm. Immediately after the race for ages 18 and up will follow. Place – Gondola Square
